Men's Leather Shoes Brand Monitoring on the National Market, January 16, 2004

Sales of leather shoes in October 2003 had an increase of 18.9% on a year-on-year basis. The top 10 brands on the market in the same month accounted for an integrated market share of 46.5%, 0.4 percentage point lower than the previous month. Senda achieved a stable sales and stood firmly on the top position, with its comprehensive market share basically leveling with that of the previous month, leading other brands by over 7 percentage points. Playboy mended its pace of progress and successfully grew from the fifth to the second position. Fuguiniao ranked as third with its increased sales. Hongqingting and Jinli were again the neighbors in that month and sat on the fourth and fifth respectively. Aokang and Crocodile continued their scramble for the sixth with Crocodile finally winning the narrow victory by 0.5% over Aokang who came to the heel. Wanli eventually made a breakthrough and rose to the eighth from the bottom of the list. Kangnai reluctantly gave place to Wanli and fell back on the 10th. Cartelo beat many other competitors and was listed among the top 10.

Survey on National Monthly Sales of Men's and Women's Footwear

According to China National Commercial Information Center's monthly monitoring on sales of women's footwear by key large-size retail enterprises in the whole country, the top 10 brands accounted for an integrated market share of 54.9% in sales of women's leather shoes in August 2003 across the country, 4.3 percentage points higher than in July.

In August 2003, sales of men's leather shoes grew 19.7% year on year. The top 10 brands took up an integrated market share of 45.3% in sales of men's leather shoes in the same month, reclaiming 3.1 percentage points over July.

The top 8 brands of women's leather shoes in terms of sales in July still remained as the top 8 in August, with relatively stable sequence of the ranking. Daphne had a rapid callback in market sales with a comprehensive market share of near 13%. Belle was firm in her second place with a comprehensive market share slightly rising to gradually approximate 11%. Senda and Qianbaidu again changed their places in August. Qianbaidu successfully rose to the top 3 with its improved sales performance, followed closely by Senda with a slight difference of only 0.5%. Fuguiniao failed to sustain at the top 5 and dropped two places to seventh in August. Hasen and Baisi both took one step forward at the same time and was ranked fifth and sixth respectively. Fude and Hongqingting held the same grounds as in July and were still among the last three. Tianmeiyi was the only new comer in the top 10 in August.
