Shoe Industry in Sri Lanka Targets at European Market

"Sri Lanka government is going to implement a plan to support the development of shoe industry, hence to accelerate its development and share a major place in the European market," said by the department head of Industrial Development Department of Sri Lanka at a special shoe industry meeting which held recently.

According to the plan, the department will build 50 large-scale and 1000 small-scale shoes factories or shoes necessities factories respectively. They include factories that produce new style shoes, accelerate the proposal of curriery in Puttalarn, retailing center, show rooms for shoes and raw materials of shoes. The construction will provide numerous job opportunities to the country. Moreover, government will offer a special investment tax rate to the enterprises whose investment is over 30 million rupee and have more than 200 employees.
