From January to May 2005, based on China Customs statistics, export of shoe products (including finished shoes and shoe materials) from China hit 2.87 billion pairs or kilograms and earned USD 7 billion in export value. This includes 2.81 billion pairs of finished shoes with USD 6.77 in export value and USD 2.41 in unit price, increasing by 15.3%, 23.6% and 7.1% respectively over the same period of previous year.

Specifically, plastic shoe export hit 1.67 billion pairs with USD 2.73 billion in export value and USD 1.63 in average unit price, increasing by 16.1%, 22.6% and 5.6% respectively over the same period of previous year; and leather shoe export hit 510 million pairs with USD 2.84 billion in export value and USD 5.56 in average unit price, increasing by 15.7%, 26.8% and 9.7% respectively over the same period of previous year.
