According to the initial
statistics released by the customs, the total import & export value of China
in 2003 was USD851.21 billion, up 37.1% year on year, of which, exports increased
34.6% on a year-on-year basis to a value of USD438.37 billion, imports also
witnessed a year-on-year growth of 39.9% to a value of USD412.84 billion, realizing
a trade surplus of USD25.54 billion, down 16.1% from last year.
